In this paper a set up developed for characterizing foam development mechanisms has been presented. Foam is a widely used agent for addressing water loading problem due to its capacity to reduce the liquid density and liquid surface tension. However the precise knowledge of the mechanisms that underlie the process of foam generation is still an open issue in research. In this paper an experimental test bench developed to find a relationship between superficial gas velocity and the foam formation in pipeline loaded with liquid is presented. Preliminary results in terms of images acquired are showed.

Abstract

In this paper a set up developed for characterizing foam development mechanisms has been presented. Foam is a widely used agent for addressing water loading problem due to its capacity to reduce the liquid density and liquid surface tension. However the precise knowledge of the mechanisms that underlie the process of foam generation is still an open issue in research. In this paper an experimental test bench developed to find a relationship between superficial gas velocity and the foam formation in pipeline loaded with liquid is presented. Preliminary results in terms of images acquired are showed.
