This study goes these events, bringing into focus on the figures that were chosen by the Republic to face up the pitares who supported the Balearic islands.

La pirateria balearica è forse quella che impensierì per un numero inferiore di anni i Romani. Nondimeno quei pirati tentarono di resistere a Roma ferocemente al punto che, una volta sconfitti, gli abitanti delle Baleari divennero un corpo scelto delle truppe di Cesare. Il contributo ripercorre le vicende di chi fu preposto dalla Repubblica ad affrontare i ladroni di mare che si appoggiavano alle isole baleariche.
