The historians have looked with considerable interest in what is commonly called the Great War, showing a particular predilection for the national, international and military political aspects. Recently, interesting studies have been published on what is called 'fronte interno' to investigate what were the economic and social effects in those territories far from the ‘sound’ of cannons. This research aims to reconstruct some aspects of the WWI in Siena and its province, with particular attention to the agrarian economy and to the relationship city-country.
