By discussing the relationship between globalization, sociological science and complexity, the article develops the idea according to which the question of complexity, raised by the need to elaborate new conceptual categories capable of explaining the processes of globalization and the network of interdependencies that each collective entity crosses, cannot be a result of contemporary sociological analysis, but reconnects sociology to the theme of the relationship of sociological science with its object. Complexity, although it offers effective interdisciplinary concepts for reading and thinking about a "global society" ("emerging property", "self-eco-organization", "order from noise", "order from chaos", "unitas multiplex"), it goes beyond the analysis of contemporary society and implies an in-depth reflection on the epistemological status of sociology and on the path that leads to the "collapse" of the modern assumptions of the social order and moves towards a "sociology beyond societias".

Abstract
By discussing the relationship between globalization, sociological science and complexity, the article develops the idea according to which the question of complexity, raised by the need to elaborate new conceptual categories capable of explaining the processes of globalization and the network of interdependencies that each collective entity crosses, cannot be a result of contemporary sociological analysis, but reconnects sociology to the theme of the relationship of sociological science with its object. Complexity, although it offers effective interdisciplinary concepts for reading and thinking about a "global society" ("emerging property", "self-eco-organization", "order from noise", "order from chaos", "unitas multiplex"), it goes beyond the analysis of contemporary society and implies an in-depth reflection on the epistemological status of sociology and on the path that leads to the "collapse" of the modern assumptions of the social order and moves towards a "sociology beyond societias".I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
