This paper takes into consideration the lute anthology Luculentum Theatrum Musicum (1568) as an example of a hand-annotated book. Besides an overview of the main characteristics of the few exemplars available today, I focus on the Latin and Greek sentences written down by an anonymous hand from the 16th-17th century on the exemplar currently kept in Vienna, identifying the passages ascribed to different ancient authors, reconstructing the writing methods and possible sources used, finally offering a transcription of the sentences with apparatus, translation and notes.

Abstract
This paper takes into consideration the lute anthology Luculentum Theatrum Musicum (1568) as an example of a hand-annotated book. Besides an overview of the main characteristics of the few exemplars available today, I focus on the Latin and Greek sentences written down by an anonymous hand from the 16th-17th century on the exemplar currently kept in Vienna, identifying the passages ascribed to different ancient authors, reconstructing the writing methods and possible sources used, finally offering a transcription of the sentences with apparatus, translation and notes.File in questo prodotto:
