The paper initially introduces externalities with discussions on definitions, generative dynamics, classifications, and aspects of market failures. It then subsequently analyzes positive externalities, with particular reference to those from research and development. The paper, characterized by a literature review and the limitation of the lack of quantitative analysis, contributes to the studies on externalities, particularly positive ones, from research and development, recognizing their rapid diffusion and significant importance in business and social contexts increasingly characterized by growing interaction also resulting from the global economy and digitalization.

Abstract
The paper initially introduces externalities with discussions on definitions, generative dynamics, classifications, and aspects of market failures. It then subsequently analyzes positive externalities, with particular reference to those from research and development. The paper, characterized by a literature review and the limitation of the lack of quantitative analysis, contributes to the studies on externalities, particularly positive ones, from research and development, recognizing their rapid diffusion and significant importance in business and social contexts increasingly characterized by growing interaction also resulting from the global economy and digitalization.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
