Migrants after their arrival in EU face, aside from public law and administrative law, practical issues, matters of civil law such as permanent settlement or residence, the attribution of status, family reunification rights and other typical civil law institutes that are faced with legal arrangements unknown in Private European law, this is the case of Kafalah and polygamic families. The paper aims to analyse the above-mentioned issues and look for the opportunity to find in the same civil law instruments solutions able to remove obstacles in implementing EU policies on the assimilation and integration of third-country citizens.
