This paper presents Giovanni Castaldi da Fano as a scribe and illustrator. Two codices (BAV, Ottob. Lat. 1417 and Jena, Thüringer Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek, Ms. G. B. q. 21) bear his name in the colophon, and in the Vatican manuscript the drawings are also signed. This has made it possible to attribute to him three other illustrated manuscripts (Brescia, Biblioteca Queriniana D.VI.16; Roma, Biblioteca Corsiniana, Rossi 19; BAV, Chig., H.VI.204), allowing us to outline the figure of a minor humanist and not insignificant artist active in Fano in the third quarter of the 15th century.

Abstract
This paper presents Giovanni Castaldi da Fano as a scribe and illustrator. Two codices (BAV, Ottob. Lat. 1417 and Jena, Thüringer Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek, Ms. G. B. q. 21) bear his name in the colophon, and in the Vatican manuscript the drawings are also signed. This has made it possible to attribute to him three other illustrated manuscripts (Brescia, Biblioteca Queriniana D.VI.16; Roma, Biblioteca Corsiniana, Rossi 19; BAV, Chig., H.VI.204), allowing us to outline the figure of a minor humanist and not insignificant artist active in Fano in the third quarter of the 15th century.File in questo prodotto:
