The article presents some considerations on the non-sexist use of the Italian language, which arise from an Italian L2 grammar, in which there is a specific section on the topic of gender language. The grammar takes into account national and supranational institutional documents that promote respect for differences and education against gender discrimination, then examining some Italian grammars to observe how some gender-sensitive linguistic phenomena are treated. The paper concludes by recalling the importance of reflecting in language education on the evolutionary phenomena of language and the use of an inclusive language, which considers the changes in Italian society, supported by the use of appropriate teaching materials.

Abstract

The article presents some considerations on the non-sexist use of the Italian language, which arise from an Italian L2 grammar, in which there is a specific section on the topic of gender language. The grammar takes into account national and supranational institutional documents that promote respect for differences and education against gender discrimination, then examining some Italian grammars to observe how some gender-sensitive linguistic phenomena are treated. The paper concludes by recalling the importance of reflecting in language education on the evolutionary phenomena of language and the use of an inclusive language, which considers the changes in Italian society, supported by the use of appropriate teaching materials.
